I have no idea how much of this is original.

The construction of the cabinet drawers and surface is very reminiscent of some built-in drawers in what was the butler’s pantry in our flat. Also, the drawer pulls are an exact match.

Again, the construction of these is an exact match of some shelves that we removed from our butler’s panty.

This is a great example of the original dining room (black) fireplace.

Fergusson’s parner, Margaret Morris, was a dancer, hence the large mirrors installed in this room.

Note the fake shutter handles and the real inlays.

This gives you an idea of how the window sills originally worked.

This is the dining room southern door viewed from inside the dining room, where it meets the southern cupboard. The small detail between the two architraves may indicate a long-lost chair rail.

We’re looking through the door into the hallway and thence through the dining room southern door to the dining room southern cupboard. Confusing! Note the picture rails, which are also surprisingly inelegant.

If you enter the bathroom door and turn right, this is what you see. Note the two large pipes: one is a waste pipe and the other a downpipe. Also note the two generations of water pipes: a lead pipe to the left of the large pipes and a copper pipe to the right.

I have no idea whether this is original, but it’s certainly old!

I interpret the brackets under the sink as evidence of its age.

Note that the bathroom exists on the boundary between what sank in the building and what didn’t, hence the wonky shape of the window. The plaster damage is caused by water intrusion resulting from historical failures in the building’s cupola and W gutter.

Successive generations of owners have avoided painting over these notes left on the wall. I can’t recall the exact location of this within the flat.

I believe that these are the original bell pulls. This is the only one I’ve found intact in the entire tenement.

The skirting board clearly indicates that this is in a bedroom, but I don’t remember whether it is the north or south bedroom.

Note the significantly simpler inlay mouldings.

This is clearly the north bedroom because the view is of Queen Margaret Drive.

This is the storage cupboard between the kitchen and the north bedroom. Clearly this is original!

My guess is that we’re looking at a printing press.

What are those big I beams doing there? Could they be left over from the 60’s era structural repairs?

This is at the north end of the main hallway, just outside the kitchen. Note the lovely curved moulding, a detail also present in my flat.
